Sara DePhillips Wizniuk is the new Spanish teacher at St. Edward for grades 5 – 8. She was born in Iowa but raised in Tennessee. She grew at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brentwood and practically lived there during her high school years. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, she moved to Honduras with several other missionaries to work at an orphanage called the Farm of the Child. It was in Honduras that she began her teaching career and solidified her love of the Hispanic culture.
After moving back to Nashville, she spent a year working with homeschooled students and a couple of years teaching Spanish at St. Cecilia Academy.
Sara and her husband Paul, have a daughter, Evelyn, born in April 2016. She is grateful to be able to continue teaching part time at St. Edward and being home with Evelyn the rest of the week. She is most excited about exploring, with the children, the rich Hispanic culture that is very present around the St.Edward community, and instilling in them a love of every culture and nation.
