
Susan Blankenship has devoted over two decades to the field of education, with nearly 20 years of experience in Metro Nashville Public Schools. Her journey began as a middle school teacher and evolved into roles as an instructional coach and Dean of Instruction, culminating in nine years as an elementary school principal at Sylvan Park Paideia Design Center and Waverly Belmont Elementary—both known for their rich economic and cultural diversity. In 2020, Susan answered a call to serve in a new way, joining St. Edward School as principal. A member of St. Edward Church and a former school parent, Susan brings both a personal and professional passion for the school's mission.

Susan holds a bachelor's and master's degree in education from the University of Tennessee and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Middle Tennessee State University. She is a strong instructional leader who emphasizes academic excellence while nurturing the Catholic faith in every student. Known for her student-centered philosophy and collaborative leadership style, Susan fosters a warm, welcoming environment for faculty, students, and families alike. She and her husband have four children, Mattie, Ella, Will, and Andrew, and one grandson, Jamie. Outside of school, Susan enjoys boating, camping, reading, Pilates, and spending time at the pool with her family.
