I grew up in rural Southern Indiana with three sisters and one brother in a middle-class family with parents, who worked hard and loved us all! (Fun Fact: Mrs. Ellis and I grew up together in Indiana and have known each other since third grade!!!!) Upon graduating from high school, I attended Indiana State University to become a high school math teacher.
I met my husband in college and two months after graduation, we married and moved to Nashville. In Nashville, I taught in public high schools (Cheatham County High School and Page High School) before moving to Illinois. While in Illinois, I attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and earned my MS in Mathematics with an emphasis on Education. My husband and I then moved to Evansville, IN where I entered a new era of education-- teaching in Catholic Schools. I taught all levels of mathematics and coached track for 5.5 years at Memorial High School. It was during our years in Evansville that our children, Justin and Kristin were born, and I entered the amazing vocation of motherhood!
Our next move was back to Tennessee, where I walked away from teaching for a bit to stay at home with our children. When Kristin started Kindergarten and Justin started second grade at St. Edward, I felt compelled to go back to work. I began my junior high teaching experience at St. Bernard Academy for three years, waiting patiently for a job opening at St. Edward. Finally, the junior high math position became available at St. Edward in 2006…and the rest is history!!!
I am a staunch believer in Catholic Schools and all their benefits! I feel very blessed to be teaching at such a special school! St. Edward is home to me, and it will always have a very special place in my heart!
