Mrs. Marty Welsh is excited to return to teaching Art at St. Edward School, where she previously taught across multiple grade levels. With a passion for both science and the arts, Marty has always been fascinated by the connections between the two disciplines. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Dallas, with a concentration in French and language education. While at UD, she explored advanced studies in genetics, anatomy, and biochemistry and was a recipient of the O’Hara chemistry scholarship. Her educational journey was deeply influenced by an inspiring high school AP biology teacher, which initially led her to pursue science—but her love for art never left her.

That passion for art ultimately took her to Florence, Italy, where she studied at the Florence Academy of Art and later became an instructor and director of the anatomical sculpture program. Marty moved to Nashville in 2019 with her husband, a fellow artist and Nashville native, and they welcomed their daughter Aurelia in 2020 and their second daughter, Eleanor, in 2024. She continues to teach in the summers as an associate professor in the Florence Academy’s MA program. Marty is thrilled to return to St. Edward and share her love for creativity and artistic expression with students once again.
