Eleven Years, One Grade at a Time
A child can start at St. Edward at age three and graduate at fourteen completely prepared for any high school in Nashville. For over 70 years, we have guided families along this exact path, building academic and spiritual maturity grade by grade.
Pre-K 3 through Grade 3)
Early elementary
Early Elementary (Pre-K – Grade 3) Our youngest students focus on the foundation. They learn to read, write clearly, and solve multi-step math problems. By the end of third grade, students are writing clear five-sentence paragraphs and following directions independently. Alongside academics, they learn foundational prayers, Mass reverence, and daily classroom habits.

(Grades 3 through 5)
Middle grades
Middle Grades (Grades 3 – 5) Expectations expand. Sentences become paragraphs, and paragraphs become essays. Arithmetic evolves into division and fractions. Students begin researching, collaborating with partners, and moving their faith from simple recitation to true understanding.
(Grades 6 through 8)
Junior High
Junior High (Grades 6 – 8) By sixth grade, academics take on a high-school shape. Students write structured, researched papers with an independent voice. They lead presentations, engage in academic discussions, and utilize technology responsibly. Because mind and conscience are formed together here, students also complete 60 hours of service each year.
