School Advisory Council
School Advisory Council (SAC) Overview
St. Edward School is strengthening its School Advisory Council (SAC) to support the long-term health and mission of our school.
What Is the SAC?
The School Advisory Council is a consultative body that supports the Principal and Pastor. It does not manage day-to-day operations or make unilateral decisions. Instead, it provides thoughtful input on strategic direction and long-range priorities.

What Does the SAC Focus On?
-
Mission alignment and Catholic identity
-
Long-term strategic planning
-
Budget priorities and financial sustainability
-
Facilities and campus planning
-
Policy guidance
-
Development and advancement strategy

What the SAC Does Not Do
-
It does not evaluate teachers or staff
-
It does not handle grievances or complaints
-
It does not manage daily school operations
-
It does not make hiring or firing decisions

How Is It Different from HSA?
The Home School Association (HSA) focuses on:
-
Fundraising events
-
Community-building activities
-
Volunteer coordination
The SAC focuses on governance, policy, and long-term strategy.
Both are essential. Together, they support the vitality of St. Edward School in different ways.
Who Serves on the SAC?
Members may include parents, alumni, parishioners, and community members with professional expertise in areas such as finance, education, law, development, or facilities.
Members serve two-year terms and work collaboratively in a spirit of stewardship and mission.
All operational matters remain with the Principal. Final authority rests with the Pastor.
